Default Basscat bass boats , anyone have opinions on them.

I'm buying a 18ft 1995 in awesome condition tomorrow with a Johnson 150. Does anyone have any positive or negative things to say about them?

Bass cats are great boats. Built solid, ride nice and are pretty quick. They have a strong following. I'm not real crazy about their styling, but that's a minor issue in the grand scheme of things.... and the company will still back your boat regardless if your the original owner, or the 5th owner.

Default Those in the know will tell you

That they are a quality boat with a solid following- many Basscat owners have been repeat customers many times over. While there are brands that are better known, (Ranger, Triton, etc) you'll not have many issues with a Basscat. As mentioned, the styling lacks over the really modern/sleek look but they are great boats. Are you getting a deal?

Just curious. Were you looking at the 95 Basscat that's for sale at Dixie Marine? It looks real nice. Wondering what the issues are.

yup thats it, it is a really nice boat, started right up, i was all set to buy but when i was test driving it on the river it pulled hard to the right, more than i liked, and the depth finder was hard to read in the sun. So i decided to pass and spend a few extra grand on something newer with a fuel injected motor.

Ok. They've got several nice boats over there right now. The 01 Basscat Sabre is really sharp. I was looking at them because I was in the market for a second boat but decided to buy a Deep Vee instead.

There's nothing wrong with a stratos.

I worked at Basscat back in the mid 80s and they put together a great quality boat. People who worked there that were formerly employed by Ranger and Champion were amazed at the quality of the Basscats compared to their old companies. Basscat puts out one boat a day or at least that how it used to be.
