We got a place on the river in Lowell, was planning on going there this weekend. Just wondering if the cats were starting to bite again yet, and how the water level is around Lowell/Devola. Was down there two weeks ago, water was pretty low (not sure of depth), I figure it has dropped even more since. Don't want to make a two hour drive for a disappointment.
For the first time in a long time I haven't fished once for cats this year. Usually hit the Devola lock but been bass fishing too much this year. I can tell you the water level is pretty low right now but honestly, I have had more luck at that lock when the water level is low. The bigger problem is the water temps are way up. When that happens, the cat bite slows and the gar bite goes through the roof. I gotta believe that the gar are out of control there. Lately the sheephead have been hitting everything too. Not sure why they seem to have increased but it seems like 60% of my bites are sheephead down there.
Yeah the river has to be way way low with the lack of rain what is the water temp running right now its got to be in the 80s or close to it the water temps on the lakes in neo are all in the 80s
