Worm,
Just add a good cigar now and you've got something. I like all the seasonal beers. Haven't met a Sam Adams I didn't like.

Which Christmas Ale? I've seen Sam Adams and I think Great Lakes Brewing makes one also. I like just about anything either one of those brewers put out.

Great Lakes is good ... Goose Island best - Last year was only $7 per six, this year $10 I'll still buy a couple dozen sixers through out the season

Sam Adams has a Cranberry Lambic and Old Fezziwig that are both really good for Christmas time.

Samuel Smith makes a Winter Welcome Ale that is a good cold weather beer. I like Sam Adams, but sadly it doesn't like me. If i have only one I always wake up the next day feeling like i took a hatchet between the eyes...

That Sam Adams Winter sampler is great! Lot's of good brews in there! Cranberry Lambic, Old Fezziwig...mmmm...Winter Lager, too.
I grabbed a couple of 6's of Great Lakes Christmas ale. Love it!
I do miss my Marzen Oktoberfests tho... :-(

Tokugawa, I don't know which one you are referring to, are they already gone for the year?
The first of October I bought some different ones (6) by single bottles to try and have only had two so far. I've been in no hurry.
Young's Double Chocolate is good any time of year, but not a true Christmas ale.
I didn't care for Great Lakes offering last year, the one I had hardly had any spice flavors to it.
That Goose Island Christmas Ale I had last year was very good, as was Breckenbridge Brewery's Christmas Ale.

That michelob pumpkin spice ale is absolutely amazing but I have a very hard time finding it, even when it was more of the pumpkin ale season. I was only able to find it once and I wish I knew where to find more.
I got my first 6 of great lakes christmas ale on monday and had to get another on tuesday haha. One side note about it, they change the brew every year, rotating which spice they make a heavier item. So one year itll have more honey, the next year more ginger, then cinnamon, then it rotates again. It provides a little bit of a different flavor from year to year and a nice variation. This years batch is awesome.

In Columbus, Barley's makes an excellent Christmas ale, and the flavor varies year by year. I never thought of the spice-rotation thing, I'll ask the brewmaster about it next time we talk.

Christmas Ale from Great Lakes is my favorite beer of all time. Unfortunately they only make it this time of year. My favorite part about it is a 6 pack is almost equivalent to a 12 pack of other beers because of the alcohol content.
only downside is the $10.99 6 pack price.
Great beer and if they sell it in your area, I highly recommend picking up some.
Cheers!

Picked up a 6 pack today. Funny how you tend to forget just how good it is until this time of year. Anyone else notice that the bottle says it is best at 55 degrees?

Was at Sams Club this weekend and they have a Sam Adams case of winter variety for $23.99. It has 4 of each, Winter Lager, Boston Lager, Cranberry Lambic, Old Fezziwig, Holiday Porter and Coastal Wheat. I dont really care too much for thier Boston Lager but all the others are great and about as cheap as you can get for Sam Adams.

ale
My brother did some work at the Great Lakes place the last couple of weeks and kept bringing home six's of the ale. I'm not thrilled with it, but that's just me. I think it's going to sit for awhile cause nobody drinks it. Waste...

I picked up a six the other day. I usually don't care for the strong tasting beers but I thought it was pretty good. Definitely not one to drink a lot of all at once but a good beer to enjoy!
