Talking Crappies beware

I was bored last night and decided to replenish my somewhat depleted stock of small hackle wing streamers I used a lot on shallow crappies this year. I also caught small bass and big gills/sunfish on them, but mostly used them for crappies in a few feet of water. These are #6's, in the color combos blue/white, orange/white, pink/white, chart/white, and red/white. This fly got me a lot of crappies, a few were Fish Ohio's.

Those are really nice. I buy mine and I fished em all summer in the same manner for the same fish as you did. The orange/white and green/white were the best. Funny, I had the same color clousers and didn't catch one fish on them all year. Anyway, your flies really look good.

I have some other colors I tie, too, but my most productive color by far was pink/white. I fish a lot of shallow bays in te spring before the weed growth gets crazy, and these simple streamers catch fish every trip. I catch a lot of fish on Clousers, but these unweighted streamers seem to do better for me in shallow water.

Those streamers look very good, nice ties!! White/silver, grey/silver & black/silver streamers are my favorites to use, but a #8 nymph caught more crappie than my streamers this year.

Not sure where you are, but those crappies may not be gone for the year. 2 weeks back I caught 8 from the same area they spawn in spring - less than 2fow.

I've been thinking about heading back out to either of the 2 lakes I caught most of my crappies from this spring, I just have not had the time to do it. The fall bite for crappies can be really good, but so can the bow hunting this time of year. I already killed my buck, but now I'm filming hunts for friends.
