We are working with the Wounded Warriors in Action (WWIA) national organization to host an Ohio event this September. The WWIA aids in healing the hearts and minds of our Nation's combat wounded heroes (Purple Heart recipients) by providing world-class outdoor sporting activities, chiefly consisting of hunting and fishing opportunities across America.
Our goal is to provide a memorable weekend of sport fishing and entertainment on Lake Erie. Our host city is Vermilion, Ohio. This is a featured event on the WWIA’s website. Please visit their website for more information on this event and all of the other great things they are doing. <http://www.wwiaf.org/calendar.php>
The participants will be chosen by the National Organization. The WWIA covers all costs, however the organization is funded by Donations. This weekend is a completely free event for our Honored Veterans. The estimated cost is $10,000.00 !
We would like to ask our OGF community for help in defraying these costs. You can make donations of any amount to the WWIA. at http://www.wwiaf.org/calendar.php
We ask that in the comments section, you denote Lake Erie - OGF. This way the organization will be able to recognize our group's contributions.
If you know a business that would like to be a major sponsor, please give me a call and we can work with them.
Thank you in advance for your support.
God Bless America

Guys sign me up. I just spoke to jeepdude and I'm in. I will gladly take out a vet in my boat for 1 or possibly 2 days. My father is going to ride with me also. He is a Vietnam vet. He truly enjoys spending time and having conversations with his fellow veterans.
I will be honored to take part in this weekend with my father and others who have served.
Jeepdude, thanks for the invite. It should be a great weekend to show appreciation and give back to those who made such sacrifices for us.
I'd like to help in some way,do you have enough boats yet? Can always help out with cash, just have to know how and where to send it. I found the link, you'll hear from me.

Just so everyone knows this is the Wounded Warriors in Action org. They are based out of Fla. They have had this up on their web site for sometime now. Below is the link (I hope) .
Anyone wishing to donate to help offset their cost can do so directly to their organization. Please be sure to put Lake Erie in the remarks or notes section so they know it came from our group.
Yeah Larry,
I caught that after looking at the website and re-directed to the right one, then deleted my post.
We are very excited about this event and thanks to all putting it together to make it happen!!
This is my first year fishing out of a boat but me n' my son would be happy to take a few out. We dock at Edgewater and could probably provide transportation for a couple guys from Port Clinton and take em out. Have a 24' Four Winns
Thats a great logo. I love the look and am looking forward to getting them out there

OK, all you crazy captains (ya' Virgil, you too with the stories) that were apart of this event....
As an Associate of WWIA, I can say on behalf of the entire organization THANK YOU! The event went smoothly and everyone had a great time! From good times on the water to good eats back at the Plantation, it was all smiles and relaxation, which is what we love to see!
As one of the Wounded Warriors, I want to personally say thank you. I got to spend some great time on 2 awesome boats this weekend, an experience I would never have without this event. My captains (Joe C-Daddy and Steve aka WanderingEyes) were both great guys that just made having a good time easy! I haven't received a copy of everyone's personal contact information, so be on the lookout once I do. But until then..to each and every person that had a hand to play in this....I am grateful for your generocity and humbled by your willingness to do so much for me. The coats are AWESOME and I have a ton of fresh fish that I'm fryin' up for the family and the neighbors this weekend!!! Thank you again! Frank and Gary, you guys did a good job!!
ps, now that I'm registered on this board...I'm going to have to go and start following you all on here as I just have to come back...for the jig bite...and then in June...oh and I have to beg my wife for a kitchen pass to get back out there next month...thanks for getting me hooked!!! LOL - (Virgil, if you ever need a deck hand to take out some Russians, give me a call!)

I know myself and my crew were proud as heck to be a part of this awesome event. I was only able to participate on Sunday but Kyle and the rest of the crew put a hurtin on the perch until the bait ran out.
Then we snuck out for a couple of hours chasing eyes and managed a 27.5 and a 25 incher for Kyle. The 27.5 was his personal best. I guarantee you I tried to stretch it to the 28 mark to get him his Fish Ohio pin but she just wouldn't go. We did get a great picture of he and I with the big girl and I still cant tell whose smile is bigger.
The freedoms these guys provide us go far beyond anything I could ever do to repay them. Sign me up fo both days next year!
The attached picture is Dixie on one of his early fishing trips. He has come a long way since then!
Thanks GR and Dixie (aka:Lowell) for the extreme effort. And thanks for allowing me to be a part of it. Cheers! Chris
I did give Kyle my business card and asked him to email me his address so I can send him a care package. If anyone has it, please PM me so I can get him some goodies in the mail.
