Found an article from the last time this happened there.. It
was August 2010, not last year.. Hopefully they've learned from their mistake and stock these new fish in a different central Ohio pond that can actually sustain life during the hot summer.
It's kinda weird that the quote from the article says ""The fish can be caught next year and should be fully grown in two years"
Just walked around the pond, Yuck that stunk big time! I didnt realize they put a catchn release sign up. Mainly just shad, with bluegill comeing in second, bass third, and one crappie i seen but it was 15 inches plus... Most of the fish looked really bloated and rotted. ugh lol nasty.
About the stocking.... As many fish as you see dead,im sure theres alot of fish still alive, as i said mainly just shad and gills. And most of the shad seamed to be large with just a few smaller ones. Im no expert but id say there are ALOT of fish left in the pond. And not completly a loss. I remember being down there after the 1st big kill and seeing people catchin fish at the same rate as before.. And i think they mainly just stock bass, crappies, and channels. I only seen one dead crappie and a few bass compared to shad, Weird though i didnt see any carp. I know the ponds full of them. But like I said im not an expert and im not accounting for fish that may be on the bottem, but most seemed to be bloated pretty bad.
Sorry didnt read ur artical until now. Crappie must breed like rabits in there lol its full of 5 inch crappie in the spring spawning on the grass and wood.
