You should try using Bluegills for catfish bait on our near Griggs, pretty easy to obtain, and cheaper then Chicken Liver, plus you will have the added benefit of catching the elusive Griggs Flathead.

I use the smaller gills (under 4") b/c they are easier to deal with.

Shrimp also works well, but the turtles will give you a headache.

its funny cuz last night i couldnt catch a damn bait fish if i tried...all i got was this little inch long shad, that i put on the hook along with the liver...my line started ripping off the spool after about 10 minutes!

Just get a very small red color hook, a small bobber, and use a single wax worm or maggot for bait. Then find some 2-3 ft deep slack water on the river, or try under a over hanging trees. If your not catching any gills within the first 20 sec. of having the bait in the water then try a new spot. If you need some good spots on the scioto in the dublin area for bait gills PM me.
