I had made plans to meet with WAREHOUSE and float the Little Miami. We met at Kelley Nature Preserve, and House hauled me and his roommate up to the Lake Isabella launching area. Met up with another friend there and launched. The first fish of the day was a little smallie, caught in one of about 3-4 riffles that we fished along the way. Have a week without my family, so started out the morning on the LMR. Threw flies and xrap to no avail. Had about an hour and a quarter. One decent hit on xrap, but popped off.

Went to work, and on my lunch hour stopped by Sharon Woods lake. I was hoping to see some big balls of roving shad that I'd seen before there, but nothing doing. I fished around the bridge for a while, but had to get back to work, so only fished for .5 hours or so.

Picked up a fly rod yesterday at lunch, before driving to my hometown in Illinois in the evening. There is a pond behind the place where we are staying, and it's surrounded by lawn and completely unpressured.

This morning, I got up early and tried to get one of the bugs I'd tied in the water. It wasn't too long before I hooked up my first fish on the fly, a channel cat. Over the next hour or two, I caught cats, a crappie, a couple of bass, and some bluegill. I'd say that's an...

Hit a spot on the EFLMR yesterday afternoon. My lovely wife, and mother of a new, currently fussy 5 week old baby, let me take some time on Fathers Day to do some fishing. Made it out about 2 pm, cloudy skies, moderate to cool temperatures. Clarity was moderate, visiblity of maybe a couple of feet. Tough to say, since I didn't stick my head in the water.

I knew things were going to be OK when I hooked into this tiny guy, my first smallie of the season, hooked on the second cast...

It was hot, and there were tons of tiny bluegill everywhere.
