Musky or Muskie ?

Posted 03-01-2009 at 05:28 PM by musky107

Dorothy and I have been fishing for these toothy critters for almost 25 years and I still don't know how to spell musky right! As I write this the live writer is telling me that muskie is spelled wrong. I don't think I'm going to change it because it doesn't matter how you spell musky, they will always be a great game fish. Of course that's just my opinion but, since this is the my blog, I'm going to leave muskie spelled wrong!

We've been home from the lake for too long now and are settling into routine. Somehow the daily's just aren't as stimulating as a 40+ inch fish trying to tear the rod out of your hand at the side of the boat. Don't even have to think about it, the 40 inch fish is hands down the winner over twisting wire for the lures!

Back in October we caught five fish in two weeks. Not great, but not bad. Two of them where caught on the lures were testing and the largest follows also came on homemade lures, one on an 8 inch buck tail and the one that hit at boat side on a 4 inch cedar crank bait. I'm happy! These are the first lures we've made in over 15 years. More later.

Great blog! Anyway you want to spell it I do agree with you that these are some awesome critters to chase. There is just something about fishing for them that is completely different than any other fish. I long for that reel scream, zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz..........zzzzzzzzz........zzz zzzz. The season is nearly upon us.

Thanks Crittergitter! You are right, the only alarm I pay any attention to is the line out alarm.
