Musky's Lunch?

Muskies are slash and get feeders, correct?

The above pictures are of a shad that surfaced beside my boat one day last fall. As you can see this shad was injured by a toothy critter, presumably a musky. Keep in mind that most shad in Ohio at this time of year are 4 to 6 inches, this one is almost 10 inches. It was still alive so I took a couple of pictures and put it back in the water. I watched it fight to regain it's stability but was also busy testing lures so I didn’t actually see what happened next. I was casting a buck tail and hoping to see what had hit the shad when there was a sucking sound from where the shad had been. A tub sized swirl was all I got to see. I know it could have been anything, but I like to think that musky would have made my day!
There was once a lure made to look very much like the shad but they stopped producing it several years ago. I hear it's coming back.
