Had a blast today with my buddy Wayne on his new Triton.
Saw an Eagle screeching like crazy and eating something way up high in a tree with a Hawk flying over him all the time he was eating. Maybe he stole a hawklett and the mommy was mad?

All toll we caught about 50 MONSTROUS Bluegill, 3 Crappie, and abuot 3 cigar bass, and these big boys. ON MICROLIGHT AND 2LB TEST.
WITH A ROADRUNNER AND 2 INCH WHITE CURLYTAIL

I never knew there was microlite. I thought ultralight was the smallest. Or is it just the smallest size ultralite reel (100 size I think)paired to an ultralite rod. Theres no microlight rods are their? Sounds like a blast. I'll fish my ultraligh rod and reel sometimes but with 4lb test. Not a lot of room for error with bigger fish on 2 lb. The fish appreciate the fighting chance you gave them. I almost went to griggs today but I fell asleep. Will probably go tomorrow north of hayden green canoe.

Hey Trucked, what did you catch the montrous bluegills on? As much as I like smallmouths, if bluegills grew to 18 inches, no one would ever land one. I love to catch big bluegills on light tackle.

Craw, Shakesphere makes a "Microlight Series". Get you butt up to Wal-Mart on 23 at Lewis Center. They have them marked wrong. ($18.94) My buddy went there and got a different one for $28.00. I went there to take back a broken Lightning Rod and exchange it and they didn't have anymore baitcasters in the Ken Cook Signature model, so I grabbed the Shakesphere Microlight for 18.64 and then got some more roadrunners and curlytails to make up the difference. Let me tell you, if you want to have a blast use the microlight and set your drag for the fish you're catching.
When I tell you guys that we were fishing all day and caught nothing but :B MONSTROUS Bluegill (9"-10"-11") and Redeye's (same size) until about 5 p.m. I mean it. Then all of a sudden I am throwing my roadrunner into a laydown tree and dragged it back a bit, and SLAMMMMM, It bent the friggin rod in half. I mean, in half. :B
I mean I had to reach up right away and loosen the drag a bit. I mean, I thought I had a carp or cat. Never thought it would be a beautiful Bass like that.
Actually, there were 2 Bass that hit my roadrunner and 2" white curlytail, and one that hit a Wollybully on my regular rod.
Two were just as large as the one in the picture, and the last one, I think just a bit bigger.
It was unreal. I was shaking for about 10 minutes. That size on my MICROLIGHT WITH 2LB TEST. We really just went out to play around with some crappie and bluegill. Never thought for a second that there would be Bass whacking our little rigs fishing in the trees.

Hey everyone, BTW, I think/know that some of these fish are STILL SPAWNING. I SAW the bed that this Bass in the picture came off of after I caught her. Figure that out. We also SAW a mess of Bluegill that we caught, (60 or 70) spitting out eggs all over Waynes new Triton. :o :o

Saw a guy with an orange kayak throwing a spinnerbait. Took alot of guts to come out there in a kayak with all those skiers out there cutting LARGE wakes. (Running at half throttle creating 3 foot waves so their skier/wakeboarder can do big jumps) was not pleasant. I know what you guys were doing. Well, they were in their own fun zone so I can't say anything I guess.

What the heck is going on with that? Water was 77.6 and look at the Bass' tail. I told Wayne she was nesting, and then we looked where she tagged me and sure enough, all hollowed out. GUESS WHAT???? THERE WAS A FREAKIN MALE THERE TOO THAT WAYNE ALMOST CAUGHT.

Best day I had in a long time. Thank You Lord for another day alive and fishing. I thought I was going to have a heartattack while Wayne was netting that fish. ;)

Trucked, if the reel is the shakespeare sigma 200A (gold color) I'm on my 2nd one. They are fun reels. I had a smallie destroy the first one though (I learned don't reel when a fishing is ripping out line) but I did get a 32-34" carp on it 4lb test, size 4 rattlin rap in red crawdad color(and a $10 5'6" ultralight rod) after about 10 minutes (papa bullhead saw it, I'm not lieing really :) ). I still like to fish the ultralight with small lures, it is great but when you get a big one on cross your fingers. Mostly I'm fishing a medium heavy with 8lb XT mono. I like the XT line though it has a little more memory than the XL. But I can't cast small lures very well with it so when I'm not catching I'll fish the UL or L with smaller lures.

I do believe it is gold as you can see, but it might be a 100 series reel. I will check in the morning. I forgot tonight, I was "reel" busy as you will see by my new post about O'Shay.

Later big boy. The only line I use is Shakesphere Supreme. No memory and I find it is super strong. I love the 2 and 4lb test. All the fish on the new post were caught on that line. :D :B
My 8 spinning rods are rigged with 6 or 8lb test and my 6 baitcasters are rigged with 10, 12, 14, 20, and 30lb (for cats) test.

Later man.

Papa, I caught the Bluegills on 2lb Shakesphere Supreme 2lb test and a microlight setup. The lure is the only thing I use for Crappie and Bluegills,

A Roadrunner with different color 2" curlytails. Depending on what color they bite on. That's all I use. I don't use live bait. I might use Gulp for Catfishing, otherwise it is Roadrunners.
:B CHECK OUT THE NEW POST I JUST PUT UP TITLED, O'SHAY

I use the shakespeare supreme xtra tough in 4(my ultralight), 6(light and medium), and 8(medium and medium heavy). it was super cheap and is strong. The 8 lb has the diameter of trilene XL in a theoretical "11 lb". I've yet to have a break off on the 8 lb shakespeareXT. I think I got it for $2.50 for a 330 yard spool. Good stuff. I think bass pro has it for $1.50 now.

to test when I was down in Flippin, Arkansas at the Ranger Boat Owners 1st meeting. Jimmy Houston and Guido and Dion Hibdon gave me 4 spools of it to try. I love the stuff.
