I am not sure what you mean by "crashes". If it locks up then it could be memory related even. What I would suggest is to install the software again. Perhaps a file got damaged on the installation. Also, make sure to run scandisk to repair any file structure issues.

thanks for the ideas bkr...

i dont know how other computers are because this is the only "modern" computer ive ever owned (previous was a commodore 64) but when my computer crashes it freezes up then the screen goes black and when you hit any key the hard drive makes an annoying tune (ehh! ehh! ehh!)....only way to escape is to ctrl-alt-del or just push the power button off then on.

i should hav plenty of memory...i think this computer just sucks. :(

Also make sure that your computer is clear of spyware programs by running something like Ad-Aware, Spybot, or even Microsoft's new Antispyware. Some of the crap that gets dumped on systems by spyware can bring a system to its knees as well.

thanks again bkr and everyone for helping and reading the thread. i did get it to work, i had to lower my graphics acceleration.

"Go to my computer(right click)
Choose properties
Choose Performance tab
Choose the graphics tab then slide the pointer to the left one or 2 tics.

You may be prompted to reboot. Experiment. You may want to slide that graphics setting all the way to the left for your first attempt. If it's going to rid you of your error, that setting would do it. You could later try bumping the setting back up one notch at a time until it causes failure again."

I am glad you were able to figure it out. I had not even thought of a graphics issue. The software is designed for systems newere than you have and that undoubtedly is why it caused the need to change your system.

lol My favorite part of your post is one word. Modern.....Your running windows 98, so you are far from modern. I wouldn't even consider widows 2000 to be modern. Your running a dinosuar my friend. My girls pc is only 4 years old and it is old in my book. I will be getting me another pc with my taxes and my pc is only 2 years old. I even have a amd 64 bit cpu in mine and I think it is old. With all the advancements made in that last year, my pc looks old. My next pc will have a dual-core cpu (AMD of course) and 2 graphics cards (Nvidia always). About the only thing not outdated on my pc is the ram. I have pc4400 and they are still selling pc3200 as the norm. So my memory is still ahead of the game (should be at $230). In the pc world modern means less than 2 years old.
