I was thumbing through an ice fishing magazine I bought the other day and there was an article on making your own weed patch. This guy had several holes drilled in the area he was fishing and down each hole was an artificial weed attached to a float of some kind to keep it in place. Sounds like a good idea. I wonder if it actually works. I suppose if you found a productive area it might hold the fish there longer. or draw in fish that a scattered over a large area. who knows might be worth a shot.

What book is that? I'd like to read it as I recently read an article on weeds, oxygen and winter fish and the catching of them.

Wow. And the thing is, they sound believable. But that's what they want you think. I won't say whether it could work or not, but I will say that it's quite expensive...maybe too expensive? Might be worth the effort to go buy some from a pet store and give it a try. Spend $5 and anchor it down, attached to some fishing line and see if it's fact or fiction. Whomever tries it, report on here the results.............good or bad!! Any takers? Better wait for ice, eh....
I bought two. Wanted to check them out better than what you can see in the picture. I plan on making more myself. I'm sure two by themselves isn't enough. The fish on mosquito have been so cooperative the last couple weeks that I haven't really given these thing much of a try. I'll say this much so far--make your own. I'll post more on these when I give them a better shot.
im thinking that fish go in structure under ice to get the oxygen mosty.. wondering if these work :)
