Okay, I'm going to explain in detail with pictures to describe how to upload an image into your posts. It should be so easy, no one will ever need any additional help to post a shot. Also I'm going to do a very thorough job of it with the words : post, upload, picture, image, digital, tutorial post and camera so when you do a search, you should be able to find this post. :p
Okay, first you have to get an image and download it to your computer, normally off your camera, but you can also right (rt) click a picture on a web site and "Save As" or go to properties and copy the http addy (more about that later.)
When the image is on your hard drive here's what you do... Left click on the Photo Gallery button on the top of this window. Click on Submit new Photos on the drop down menu.
http://www.ohiogamefishing.com/photopost/data/500/16Picture_Tutorial_Post_22-med.jpg
It will open a window, click on the Browse button.
http://www.ohiogamefishing.com/photopost/data/500/16Picture_Tutorial_Post_34-med.jpg
Next find your image off your hard drive and click on it. If it doesn't automatically load, hit the "Open" button on the lower right corner of that window. Some of these pictures are of a poor quality because the screen refresh on the computer, etc made it hard to capture & focus. Hopefully you can see I'm selecting an image (flower).
http://www.ohiogamefishing.com/photopost/data/500/16Picture_Tutorial_Post_35-med.jpg
Next you hit the Upload/Submit button...wait patiently.
http://www.ohiogamefishing.com/photopost/data/500/16Picture_Tutorial_Post_40-med.jpg
When the picture is uploaded, you can name it, and then hit the Process Files button.
http://www.ohiogamefishing.com/photopost/data/500/16Picture_Tutorial_Post_43-med.jpg
Next you will get this screen and click on the Click here to return to main menu
http://www.ohiogamefishing.com/photopost/data/500/16Picture_Tutorial_Post_44-med.jpg
Next you will see you picture in an icon, click on it. That will bring your picture up Now Right click on the picture, hit Properties....
http://www.ohiogamefishing.com/photopost/data/500/16Picture_Tutorial_Post_49-med.jpg
Find the Address (URL) and highlight & copy it.
http://www.ohiogamefishing.com/photopost/data/500/16Picture_Tutorial_Post_50-med.jpg
Now come back into your post & click on the little Upload Image icon..I always say it looks like a little yellow postcard to me.
http://www.ohiogamefishing.com/photopost/data/500/16Picture_Tutorial_Post_6551-med.jpg
Paste that http addy into it...put your cursor right on top of the blue http and hit paste (rt click)
http://www.ohiogamefishing.com/photopost/data/500/16Picture_Tutorial_Post_54-med.jpg
Okay, get it?? Now hit OK...
http://www.ohiogamefishing.com/photopost/data/500/16Picture_Tutorial_Post_58-med.jpg
Now here's a very important tip, be sure to hit ENTER on your keyboard to move your cursor to a new line...easier to do it before you hit the upload icon, but if you forget, just slip it in front ot the bracket with the IMG in it. If you don't, then your picture(s) will not be lined up & it will be very difficult & frustrating to read your post. Also hit ENTER after entering each image so your text will start on the new line below it. Actually I just edited & went back thru and hit enter again, before and after each IMG to make it easier to read.
http://www.ohiogamefishing.com/photopost/data/500/16Picture_Tutorial_Post_60-med.jpg
See ? for the purpose of demonstration, you can see the location of the cursor, then I hit ENTER & it drops it to the next line.
http://www.ohiogamefishing.com/photopost/data/500/16Picture_Tutorial_Post_63-med.jpg
Now your done (hopefully) so you can hit the Preview Post button and see how it all looks & correct any alignments & spelling by scrolling down, hit Preview again when done with your fixing.
http://www.ohiogamefishing.com/photopost/data/500/16Picture_Tutorial_Post_67-med.jpg
Next you can hit Submit when you're satisfied it will woo and amaze everyone. if you have an error, you can always hit the edit and make the necessary corrections. Sometimes a huge post like this, I hit the submit when I have a substancial amount completed so in the event I delete it or something, I still have that much complete. Hope this will answer everyone's questions on how to post. You can also get an image from off another site, as I deluded to in the 1st paragraph, just rt click it, copy the http addy off the properties and pop it into the Insert Image (postcard) icon. Nice if you want to show an item from an online cataloge, etc.
Oh hey, here's another gem, open 2 windows on your browser to save you time. Use one for the post & one for uploading & transferring all the images to your post. To open an additional window, you left click the File button on the top left of your browser, and then hit New and then Window...

Awh, heck, you guys jumped in before I put the final touches up, which I explained why I submit prior to completion. It took a substancial amount of time to take the pictures, upload & post it all, hope it becomes a "CLASSIC"
With a little better software...or simply experiance, you can make a shot look better sometimes... ;)

Remember to hit the ENTER button before and after submitting the image to get it to line up. :)

River's a mess, I'm unemployeed (running out of money quick) The wife got a job (we closed the shop 1-15-05 and if I went fishing, I might not like her reaction....
Supposed to call back on one Tuesday and got more irons in the fire. thought I was going to get the final answer today, but maybe it's just as well because both jobs are good. One pays more, but the other has more benefits & will be much easier. The higher pay is doing pickups for a store, 120 stops per day, but you get bonuses depending on how much you get. I'd be outdoors most all day, in all weather. the other is a lumberyard delivery, maybe make 3-5 deliveries a day. Not a bad wage, but not as much as I could make with the bonuses. Then again, at my age ;) I don't mind sitting & drinking coffee waiting on an on load & off load. I'll just pray for the highest and best outcome for all concerned. :o

I see from time to time someone asking about posting and I've posted a few instructions which I guess could be brought up still. This one should answer all the questions and I've even copied & mailed myself a copy to file so I can email it if necessary. I've included all the buzzwords in the title, so you should be able to run a search on any of them and find this thread. Also the message contains the rest of the search words one might look for..digital, camera, etc. Hope you enjoy it, you may want to link it into the Photo Gallery as a "How to"... or "A Step by Step Guide to "....upload photos and insert them into your posts.

I can get as far as entering a picture in the photo gallery but after reading the instructions several times and trying for an hour I just can't get a picture in a post. The copy and paste deal won't work for me. If I just get a picture off my hard drive and try to enter it in a post I get a message that it is too large at 39.9 and has to be 39.0 or smaller. I din't know how to change picture size. I told you I was dumb about this stuff. Send me a stamp and I'll mail you a polaroid.

AH, figured it out, I guess my browser is diff, I have to clif Properties in the Drop down "File" menu!
Ok, after i hit the sumbmit photo it takes a few minutes and then goes directly to the "no other photos" screen with no screen to add a title or options and the "process files" button. I've tried it a millions times and that screen never shows up and the picture won't go into my gallery. Not sure what the problem is as i've submitted pictures before. anyone want to tell me why i'm stupid?
I've uploaded 3 different pics, and do not get the "process file" screen either. I also can't find them anywhwere on the website, or in my gallery. I'm not sure why it's not working.
Any help would be great!!!!
Thanks,

Not sure what you guys are doing wrong, but I posted several pictures in the last few weeks and a few today without any problem. Try again, and follow what is said in the thread.
MOJO i am having the same problem and it is making me really mad...If you figure out whats wrong let me know...I haven't been able to post pics for a few weeks now because of it... If it's going to the "no other photos" screen without loading any photos then it's timing out. Not uncommon with dial-up and/or high res photos.

i will second that problem. clicking the photo gallery link just sends me to the gallery. there is no submit or upload option anywhere, nor is there a dropdown. i am using firefox, is this a possible reason? browser incompatiblity?

You will notice that this post that Mrfishohio made of how to do this was actually done 3.5 years ago. Unfortunately since then things have changed some. His tutorial was great at the time. You need to go to Photo Gallery and then to member photos. There should be a bar across with My Photos. Within that bar there should be a link for "Upload Photos". I believe much of the tutorial would still apply once you find that link. Perhaps someone will get energetic and do a revised version of the tutorial.

So the picture gallery is fixed and running properly now?
That I don't know because it never broke for me.:p I know that Sporty scheduled the downtime for the upgrade a couple of weekends ago. I have not really heard whether that made any difference. Let us know if there are still the same issues now. I know that you were one of the people affected by it all along.

Nope. Still not working. States the photo was uploaded successfully but nothing appears in the gallery.
Here's a question I never have been able to get answered by the owners.
Why is the gallery broke for me and a few others but never broke for you or others?
As I mentioned in numerous PM's, the gallery has been broke for months and months and nobody seems to care or is willing to do anything about it.
I would be very very interested in a response from the tech guys that are owners and in the know.

Jeff (sporty) informed me that he did not get the upgrade done on the weekend that was originally planned. I did not realize that. So unfortunately the problems that are occurring may still be due to the version upgrade that is left to do. I hope this helps.

Sorry guys for the intermittent and random problems.
Sporty will be doing an Photopost upgrade real soon.
He attempted to do the upgrade last weekend, but needed input from Photopost, who was not available on weekends.
He will install the latest version while retaining all current photos, and hopefully this will take care of the problem.
Thanks for your patience.
Lewzer, not everyone uses the same combination of operating system, internet browser, internet options, plug-ins, etc. That's probably why only an unlucky few are having this problem.
As mentioned, there's a sticky post in the lounge where sporty said he's waiting on a resolution before he can fix the problem.

i still dont see where the upload option is. the main photo gallery page has no such option for me. if i go to the "personal albums" section as suggested by bkr43050 and there is no "my photos" tab/link/dropdown. this is gettting frustrating; other people are posting and uploading pics and some of us dont even get the option to upload.
anyone have a recent and concise method for getting pics uploaded?
in case it matters, im running on firefox 3.0.4

i just had an idea, perhaps someone can post the actual url that they get directed to when they click the upload option (unless its all built into the forum as a dropdown or something). i could then at least manually copy and paste that address into my browser to get to the upload location.

I believe if you go to the following link there should be a link that says "My Photos" along that middle left area. On the right there should be a "Upload Photos" link.

I have found that even though it states there is no size limit if the pic is over 2MB it will say "upload complete" or something like that but picture won't be there. I have had to crop or lower the resolution or what ever to get the pic under 2MB and then it shows up.
Lewzer
11-24-2008, 11:17 AM
Yep, I'm playing around with the gallery now too. Despite what is states on no size limit, I just uploaded a 1 Mb photo but even though the 4 Mb photo states it was successsfully uploaded, nothing appears in the gallery.
It's kind of like they state there is no timeout limit but you wait for 2 minutes without doing anything, you have to sign in again.
But hey, at least I can post a picture again:) .

Yanky, your screen suggests that although you have logged in to the OGF forums apparently your profile is not logging in to the gallery section. The options you have are consistent with a user who has not logged in. I would suggest that if you have not already done so you should PM either Sporty, or Shakedown. I think they would be the ones to address this. Your issue seems to be different than what Lewzer and others have been having.
Earlier this year I recall the tech's installed a modification to allow you to browse/copy/paste a photobucket image right from the OGF message editor. I don't think it was supposed to be a permanent solution to the upload issue but hey its something.
