fly lines for steelhead fishing?

What sort of fly lines do you typically use for steelheading in the NE OH tribs, e.g. floating, sink tip, fast sinking, etc.? I generally fish the Grand and sometimes the Rocky. I figure on the shallower portions of both rivers one could probably get away with a floating line, but might need some kind of sinking line for the deeper holes. Any advice would be helpful.
