This is an awesome program and has to certainly mean the world to so many of these guys. I never served in the military but I know that I was very touched by the monuments, museums, and cemetery.
As you said there are not all that many of the WWII veterans still with us. This would be one last great tribute to them for their sacrifices made for us.

Passed this along.
My Pops is 88 years old. Iwo Jima, Saipan & Tinian.
Said he'd never get a medal unless they gave one out for being
the quickest out of there when somebody said "Here they come!".

Creek-
Make sure he knows this is a totally FREE trip. They have to buy nothing. Each person has an assigned escort that will be with him the entire trip. Meals are included. If he needs help getting connected he should contact any VFW post for help.

I seem to recall one of our OGF members talking about this last year and that he participated in this as an assigned escort I believe?

I knew an elderly vet who went on one of these trips. He always smiled a lot but when he returned he smiled constantly and we all noticed that he had much more giddy-up than before.
If you know one of these guys or girls do something special for them whenever you get a chance.

Here soon they are going to open these flights up for Korean War and Viet Nam veterans.
Anyone that is a veteran of the Korean war, or a veteran of the Viet Nam era will be able to get a free trip to DC to view the Memorials. I'll be on one of these as soon as I get a chance to. When the time comes, anyone that qualifies needs to make sure they make the trip.

As a current active duty military member/fisherman I am always honored when we can be there to send our veterans off and even welcome them home when they return from D.C. This Saturday the 180th Fighter Wing/Toledo Express is staging a Stage Door Canteen in honor of our WWII heroes. There has been numerous ads and a Facebook Page for the event.
