Just saw this sub forum was created and there weren't any posts. I think its great that the OGF staff listened and responded to several of our military members and came up with this.
I am from the west side of Cleveland (Lakewood) and served in the Corps from 2006-2010, infantry, deployed twice, once on a meu and the other to Iraq.
Also I thought I would share a link with you guys, it is a website called the brigade, and there are daily posts of cool and interesting military pictures. My wife sent one of me from iraq a while back and they just posted it. Here is the link, I am the last picture crouched by the ammo can if you scroll all the way to the bottom.

Turned 18 in 1975. Was in the Army one month later. Wanted to be an MP like my dad was in WWII, but they said I was to short at 5'7''. Next choice was the enginneers, but they said no openings. Recruiters said they needed cooks and that's they only thing they had. As a dumb 18 year old I beleived him. So a 94B I became. Perm. party at Ft. Knox, 194th Armoured Brigade Field Artillery. Came up on orders many times to Guam, Korea, and the rectum of the world at Bomholdin, Germany. That was all before computers and as a cook I paid clerks off with bags of coffee to tear up my orders. They swore to me that if those orders went into the trash can, that it was like it never happened! They were right! Spent 3 years at Ft.Knox and changed units without ever leaving the building. 194th was deactivated and we became attached to the 7th Corps. Nothing changed but the patches on our sleeves. Never had the honor of being in combat, but learned a lot from vets that were fresh out of the Vietnam war. They told me that in convoy the mess truck was a setting duck for ambushes because we were always the last truck in the convoy. Guess I was lucky to be to young for Vietnam. Became a SP5 Section Chief. I still get the chills when I think of 6 155mm howlitzers shooting charge 7's at night. They all fire together and the earth shakes! Sure wouldn't want to be on the recieving end of that salvo. 1975 to 78. A Battery 2/34FA 194th Armoured Brigade and HQ Battery 3/3FA 7th Corps. Proud to be an American.
