Mooneye Minnow, mostly in the fall. For sure, not the prettiest one in the box, but seems to catch a lot of fish.

I think we're seeing differences relating to where in the lake the guys were fishing. Off Geneva is not the same as Lorain & West.
Purple white tiger as likely my best. Or Pearl Ghost.

I agree 100% I actually find that even colors I run in lorain won't even work as well near the islands and those colors won't work (as well) off rocky river or cleveland>east.
I fish everwhere from ice out till ice 5-80 ft of water and only a handful of colors will produce lake wide, one being Pink Lemonade/Cranberry crusher, it doesn't matter where I'm at, what time of year, depth, water color whatever, that color pulls fish no matter what, same with pearl ghost, give me these 2/3 colors every day of the week and I'll come back with a limit.
Barbie would be a close 3rd, then eriedecent.
I fished more cranks last year than years past and I loved it, average size was better, caught a ton of big fish, boat was cleaner, saved some money and had a blast.

From the West to Lorain we have caught a ton of fish on Bubble Gum. Haven't experimented with them any farther east but this is a new year.

Hey Scott, we may have a convert.
But Kevin you forgot to mention the lack of aggravation for those pesky white perch, and the headache of trying to watch every board every moment so you don't miss that little jump that signifies you just got robbed.
When I say cranks catch bigger fish, it's only cause they do.

My top 4 the past few years:
Pink Lemonade - pretty much always have one of these in the water
Pink Panties
Salamander
Some variety of the "Naked" series

We had three tie for most each: Bare Naked, Chartreuse Wonderbread, and Hot Flash. Daytime Cleveland.
Firetiger Ripstick at night.

For me it changes depending on where, when, and water clarity but it seems like Barbie is the one consistantly getting wet in my boat.. jay

See I fall on the other side of the line. The more I fish, the more I'm tending to think that color matters little, and that presentation is more important. What of the guys (like Mr. Mallard) who primarily fish with the same spinner all the time? The Mr. Mallard special (also one of my favorites): 2 small silver colorados and red beads. Myself, I used Firetiger blades with chartreuse backs every trip last year, and they caught fish every time.
What can account for this difference in opinion? I get out somewhat less than 20 times a year, I reckon. I think that when we do well, the fish are in a positive mood, where most anything will work. This certainly has an effect...as the lure that gets wet will get the fish (as K Gone once told me) and I'm always getting the Firetiger #5 wet.
But...I do think that there is more merit to trolling speed, direction, and depth of presentation than there is to color.

+1. It seems the colors that catch the most fish on my boat are the colors that were left on the rods from the last trip :)

I dunno ive run a lot of plugs side by side same depth, setting, and lead length on the boards...Some lures just flat out dont work for me in the central basin...
Im gonna add Cranberry Crusher to my list...Not to mention the pile of bare naked customs I have which have no names.....
