I have about 4 gallons of 40:1 premixed fuel in a gas can. I need to get rid of it. I know I can take it to a haz waste site to dispose of it. But...

Would it be ok to add it to my cars tank that is 3/4 full? Maybe a gallon or so at a time? I would rather use it than waste it.

each year in late fall i dump all my mixed fuel out of my weedeater, blower, chainsaw, boat tank, etc into my truck. one year i know i dumped 10 gallon in an almost empty tank. might have some smoke come out the tailpipe but it will be fine. would be no different if your vehicles piston rings were worn and leaking/burning oil from your engine.

LOL It will be all right when I was a kid. I would use the boat gas in my truck all the time when I was low and the nearest gas station was about 8 mile our so.

Ski, while I know you got a lot of go-for-it replies, I'd be cautious if your vehicle is newer. 2stroke oil in gas can damage catalytic converters, I trashed the one in my '93 wrangler by using leftover 40:1 gas I had for my jetskis...

Lightman is correct, in a newer car especially you will "poison" the catalyst & reduce it's useful life severely. Don't know what type of car you have but the catalyst is way more expensive then a few gallons of gas. I use mine in either the mower or the mototrhome that doesn't have a cat.
If it trashes your cat, you'll be asking what to do with an engine check light : ) !!!

Why don't you just use it for what you bought it for in the first place ? If it was from late Summer or Fall it's okay. I do it every year and have no problems. But, if they start adding more ethanol it will be a different story.

Been doing it for years without a problem.

But I only add 2 quarts to a tank full. I use a clean (quart) Mason jar.
