Still wondering how they did this year? ODNR said they thought they would grow up to 7" a year. I was thinking that they would be 16/17ish this spiring.

Thanks for the email regarding Hybrid Striped Bass (HSB) at Griggs and O’Shaughnessy Reservoir. The Division of Wildlife started stocking fingerling (about 2-inches long) HSB at both Griggs and O’Shaughnessy last year (spring 2009) and stocked the fingerlings again this year. Our plan is to continue to stock fingerlings for the next several years to see if good HSB fishing can be established. We plan to monitor their populations now and into the future to see how well they are doing. We do expect that a good fishery can be established, as there is sufficient gizzard shad forage for the fish to eat. However we really won’t know until we do our monitoring over an extended period of time.
That means Spring 2010 you have an age class of 1, or an abundance of 5-7" fish.
I would not expect a bunch of them being caught yet. 2-3 years they will really take off like rockets though.
