I went on down to one of my favorite smallie hunting holes this morning for a little overdue relaxation. With the rain we have been having the water was up quite a bit and dirty with them opening up the Griggs Dam. I caught a keeper large mouth bass in a spot I had never seen them before. Not bad considering the conditions...I could have been skunked!

When I know I'm only going to be out for an hour or so I limit myself to only one type of lure. Crankbaits were my choice this time. The only lure that worked for me today was the Bandit Footloose in Firetiger pattern. I figured that was going to happen so I started off with craw patterns before switching over. I also went as far as tying some directly to the eye and others with a split ring to see if it would make any difference. There's nothing like doing a little experimentation when fishing for fun.

Way to go! I would love to tie into a keeper largemouth now. Maybe the fish will start to turn back on!
