Default North Res. Crappie Help

Anyone doing any good for Crappies at North Res. lately? I got the day off tomorrow and thought I would try for a few. If you have any suggestions, please let me know.

I had alot of luck last week at north res. In two days i caught 70 crappie off the wall in front of Mandas Bait Shop. I was shore fishing with a 1" green and chartruese tube jig about two feet under a bobber. i was just bouncing the bobber along to give movement to the tall of the tube. Vary your retrieve from slow bounces to fast fast short bounces. Let me know your results. All the fish I caught were 10 to 12 inches.

Fished North and caught 6 keeper crappie, i.e. all 9" to 10". Bite was slow at about 1 bite per 15 mins. or so. Would love to get into them one more time before I put up my fishing stuff for the winter. Do you think the good bite is over at North? You know, like the one WalleyeFreak had?

I also hooked into something that took my minnow. It was big but it wrapped around a log and broke my line. I am thinking is was a catfish or large bass. Do catfish hit this time of year? I don't know because I don't fish for them. I was fishing in about 2' of water right up against the shore when it hit.

I will try at the wall at Manda's and let you know how I do WalleyeFreak. How far out from the wall were you fishing? Never fished over by that wall. Is there any structure out off the wall, i.e. sunken brush. Oh, what was the weather like the two days you caught them?

Nice job wilyc!

I was casting parallel with the shoreline about 30 ft out from shore. There is some old christmas trees scattered along the whole length of the wall. Most of the trees are in about 5 ft of water directly out in front of mandas. I was only fishing about 18 inches below a bobber. I found that days that are sunny with a bit of chop on the surface were the best. Just enough chop for the crappie not to see the bobber. I think that the bite will be on again in the next few days. I catch them there about two weeks after ice off as well when the water temp is only in the high 30's to low 40's. Ill be out there on the next sunny day.

Thanks for the info. I have been trying to keep a journal as to when, how, where, weather, etc. for the crappies at North Res. and other similar lakes. Just trying to improve my knowledge of these fish. If I can ever be of any help to you, let me know. Maybe I will see you out at North one of these days. I usually fish from my 12' gray boat with a trolling motor on it. If you see me, say hello. Take care and thanks again!
